What Causes Chronic Numbness In Feet?

My feet are numb all the time. Sometimes worse than other but pretty consistently all the time. I am 53. Diabetes runs in my mother s side of the family but I look just like my dad who has gout but is a little over weight. Myself, I am 6 2 and 180lbs. So is it one of those or something completely different? How would I know without blood work? Wow right?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hi,
i can understand your concern
Your condition is mostly due to a peripheral nerve problem,It can be due to nutrition deficiency like vitamin B12, riboflavin, etc or long standing undiagnosed diabetes mellitus or due to other obscure causes.
I would advice you to consult a neurologist at your earliest time as if intervened in early part of disease after diagnosis one can treat and reverse it.
You will have to undergo some investigations after neurological examination like Electromyography and nerve conduction studies.
I hope this helps
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns
Wish you a very healthy life ahead.
