What Causes Chronic Pain In A Person Suffering With Multiple Sclerosis?

I am a disabled firefighter,I fell 45 while on the job. I now have MS, Psoratic Arthritis and have had a total of 38 surgeries due to the fall. Everything from ankles to knee replacements, repair to a basically crushed pelvis, 4 back surgeries now, my shoulder needs repair along with a revision on my left hand . My pain mgmt. doctor begins to back my melds off about a year ago stating we ( the pain management doctors of the US) have decided that pain mgmt. patients get better when we lower their pain men s. I am and have been taken back to the amount of Medes that I was being given two years AFTER MY ACCIDENT. As one might imagine I am and have been back down, limited to my bed as I am unable to sit up longer than oh,1 hour before the pain has me in tears....this is no life but, is he just trying to rid himself of me as a patient or will this tactic Ever work? Tired of doing the pain rock in Ga. Ami

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
