What Causes Chronic Palpitations In Children?

A 7yr old Caucasian boy that complains about his heart beating fast. When he is asleep it s beating so fast you can touch him anywhere on his body and feel his heart beating as if the beat is so hard and strong that it seems as if he s rocking very slow and steady in rhythm of the beat of his heart. His pediatrician listened to it and says the sound of the luv dub luv dub goes silent but his heart has not stopped or skipped a beat. So my question is what is the case for that OR what is going on?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It may be best to consider an ECG to check his heart rate and rhythm to determine conclusively if either is abnormal.

If the ECG is normal but the palpitations are still detected then a holter may be indicated. This is essentially a 24 hour ECG.

Blood tests to rule out anemia and to check his thyroid may also be needed.

I hope this helps
