What Causes Chronic Sciatica Pain Despite Taking Hydrocodone And Acetaminophen?

I ve been suffering with sciatica for 3 weeks, and now it s in both legs. I friend, who had the same condition, recommended gabapentin....which worked for him. My Humana doctor Rxed Hydrocodone-acetamin5-325mg, and recently tylenol with codine #3.....and neither has stopped the pain. In fact, it seems worse now....being bilateral. Any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Lumbar spondylosis may cause Scotia nerve root compression lead to pain. Osteoarthritis also may cause pain need to take MRI lumbar spine to rule out compression. Use back support belt , physiotherapy. Nsaids, calcium tablets may useful. Please consult your neurophysician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
