What Causes Chronic Shortness Of Breath With History Of Breast Cancer?

I have stage IV bc with malignant pleural effusions that I drain every two days using an ASPIRA cath. I continue to be very short of breath even though I have been draining now for over two months. I have finished my first course of Ibrance/Letrazole but continue to be very short of breath. I m wondering if the continued shortness of breath will resolve or continue? thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the stage IV malignant pleural effusion is not curative and the therapy with drainage, chemotherapy is supportive to alleviate the pain and suffering during advanced stage of malignancy. Do discuss the possible prognosis and pros and cons of the therapy against the extent of disease facing right now.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
