What Causes Chronic Sneezing?

My husband has been dealing with uncontrollable sneezing. Day or night, winter or summer, it's all the same. He has seen an allergist with testing done and no answers. He lives on allergy meds (over the counter) and he still continues sneezing. He has tried several prescription meds with no relief. Doctor is at a loss and so are we. He sleeps with a clap machine with humidifier that he has to remove during his fits. As best as we can recall this began a few months after he had shingles. Help?? He is so dried out and miserable!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain sneezing is commonly due to allergic reaction and can be due to a number of causes that causes allergic reaction like Pollen, animal danders, dust, smoke, certain trees and grasses while can also be due to certain foods, foreign body infestation in nose etc..
O would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you allergic testing like Patch test, Prick test, RAST test, food challenge test along with nasal endoscopy to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment can be done accordingly..
He will have to continue taking anti allergics, decongestant and steam inhalation..
He will be instilled an Immunotherapy that will help in reducing severity and frequency of allergic reaction..
Once the exact cause of allergic reaction is ruled out preventing exposure to allergen will help in prevention of allergic attack..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
