Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a chronic sore throat for the last 4 weeks and no one can figure out what is wrong. I have had a throat culture and it is negative for strep throat and have an appointment set up with an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor in 2 weeks. Any suggestions what I can do or what this might be? Thank You, Anna
As per your query you have symptoms of chronic sore throat which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection and due to viral pharyngitis and sometimes infection from upper respiratory tract get spread down and leads to these symptoms.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis without any delay and order throat swab test and blood test. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial for at least for 10 days along with anti inflammatory and decongestant. You should apply warm compresses to throat externally. Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
