What Causes Chronic Swelling In Knee Post Replacement Surgery?
I had to have surgery Aug 2nd to have a liner upsizing replacement. I have had two knee replacements on my right knee and the Doc needed to upsize the liner from a 6mm to a 9mm on the second revision for more stability in the knee. The problem I have is constant swelling from the surgery and the Doc said that I will probably have chronic swelling for the rest of my life. I am 50 years old and I have never heard of chronic swelling. Is there really anything I can do about it? nsaids do not work, ice does no good. Intense rehab has taken most pain. Does not really hurt. Just swollen. Any ideas?
As per my surgical experience, many of the times, there can be chronic tissue edema or altered tissue texture which can show up as swelling. In my clinic, after clinical examination, I do suggest an ultrasound of the soft tissue part for best evaluation and guidelines.
