Hello,
You are having upper chest congestion with severe cough. You have allergy to mold. It can be due to
mold allergy that triggered your symptoms. Other medical conditions that causes chest congestion are flu, pollution, asthma,
cystic fibrosis,
pneumonia,
bronchitis or COPD. You can take antihistamine, one at bed time for relief from the symptoms. Take sips of water or fluid throughout the day, keep your throat mucosa moist.
Use a room humidifier to stay comfortable. Steam inhalation may help. Give voice rest. Take liquid or semi solid food so that you don't hurt your throat. You can keep cough lozenges in your mouth to prevent coughing. You can also take mucolytics and decongestants. It should get reduced in 48 hours. If the symptoms remain persistent then you can take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin or
Cephalosporin. Before that get clinically examined by a GP, get sputum test, X-ray done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. You will be accordingly treated. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
