Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Chronic Upper Left Abdominal Pain When Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia?
Ok, I have had upper left abdominal pain for about 7 years. The pain is basically directly under my left breast and goes all the way around to my back at the spine. There s an area that s sort of bruised and the bruising changes all the time. I ve had a number of tests, scans you name it. They say I have fibromyalgia and that may be true but this is NOT fibro pain. I ve had a hysterectomy which was supposed to get rid of the pain because another doctor told me I had endometriosis. When the pain started I gained weight- I mean a lot of weight and the weight gain is mainly around the area that hurts as if my body is trying to protect itself. I WAS very athletic and energetic before this started. Any ideas ?
The pain over the area mentioned by you doesn't appear related to endometriosis. Please try to recollect if you had some rash over the area which looked like blisters in past. This is called herpes zoster infection and it could lead to long term pain over the affected area after the rash disappears. There are drugs which relieve such neuropathic pain and you can get them by visiting a physician or dermatologist. To me it doesn't seem to be fibromyalgia also.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
