General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is possible that he may have a viral infection affecting his gastrointestinal tract. This is the most common reason for acute onset of vomiting.

In most persons it resolves within a few days.

Treatment involves-
(1) Needs to replace the fluids and electrolytes that he is losing but this needs to be done slowly. If he uses a large amount at a time, it will cause the vomiting to occur.

Sips of about 1 tsp to 1 tbs should be used ever 5 or more mins for an hour. If this is tolerated, then the amount can be increased.

Oral hydration products or dilute sport drinks can be used.

(2) No solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no vomiting. When this time occurs then a small amount of dry solid food can be used, e.g. toast or biscuits

(3) Medication, like Peptobismol or Dramamine can be used

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions.
