Hello,
Based on your description, he seems to have
gastroenteritis. I would also like to rule out
electrolyte imbalance (due to the
diarrhea and vomiting) and a central cause for the vomiting.
Does he smoke or consume alcohol? Does he have any other medical issues (other than RA) or take any other medications? Did he ingest anything unusual or from an unhygienic place? Did he eat any raw /half cooked meat or eggs?
I recommend you:
- A physician consult
- Blood tests (
complete blood count, electrolyte levels, kidney and liver function tests)
-
Ultrasound abdomen, a CT of required
- CT scan of brain if clinically indicated
- Proper hydration with oral rehydration salts (replaces electrolytes and water)
- An electrocardiogram
- Anti emetic medication and intravenous fluids of necessary
Based on this we can find out what's happening. Electrolyte imbalance can lead to dangerous heart rhythms, so please see a doctor right away.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
