What Causes Clear Fluid Discharge From Breasts And Irregular Menstrual Bleeding?

Iam Frances from Nigeri. I have been trying to concieve for 3 months but nothing seems to be working out. I have a colour less fluid coming out of my breast especially when I squeeze my nipples,and also av had menstrual irregularities for sometime and in most cycles I bleed between cycles which Is usually scanty.can the postinor 2 I took 3 years ago be the cause of this problem.

Welcome to health care magic,

The white or colorless fluid discharge from the breast could be due to some infection called as mastitis as you said you have not conceived yet.

As per your history and problem,actually it is a post menstrual spotting which seems to be DUB (dysfunctional uterine bleeding) which occurs due to hormonal imbalance.

If this is your first episode I am not suggesting you any evaluation, but if this is repeat episodes I will suggest you to undergo few minimum investigations i.e. scan pelvis (to see if there is any problem with uterus or ovaries), thyroid function test (thyroid abnormalities can present with irregular bleeding) and haemoglobin (to rule out anemia).

Generally treatment is recommended after investigation and I use combined OC pills for my patients with similar episodes.

In short, you can wait for a few days more and I expect the spotting to stop.

If symptoms persist or if the episodes recur subsequently, you are advised to seek medical attention.

Consult your gynecologist for further evaluation.
