What Causes Clicking Noise In Head, neck Stiffness And Occasional Vomiting?

My 90 year old mother hears a clicking noise in her head, has some neck stiffness or discomfort and has recently also had nausea and occasional vomiting. She suffers from dementia which is getting worse. Could any of these symptoms be related and if so, to what? She is visiting me from out of state and I don t want to put her through a barrage of tests unnecessarily.

Hello,

Her symptoms seem to be related to vascular headache, which is a type of headache related to high blood pressure or low blood supply to the brain. I recommend you to closely monitor her blood pressure values. Verapamil or Propranolol can help improve her situation. I would also recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of her carotid arteries and a cervical vertebral column X-ray study for spondylarthrosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
