What Causes Clicking Sound In Neck And Blockage In Ear?

Hi.I have a strange grinding noise in my neck when I turn my head side to side. Also I have had a blocked left ear and VERY tight traps and upper back for weeks now. :-/ I had some dental work about 6 weeks ago which really took a long time to heal, my jaw was clicking for weeks and very painful to open. But most of these symptoms were happening before this.Thanks!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have clicking sound in neck and blockage in ear . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to ETD ( eustachian tube dysfunction) . It usually occur due to spread of infection from upper respiratory track infection through eustachian tube in case it is left untreated for long time or low immunity . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without delay otherwise it can spread to middle and inner ear and complicate the condition . Doctor may order throat swab test , Ct scan , viral culture test , blood test and examination with otoscope to rule out condition like pulsative tinnitus . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) , decongestant , expectorant along with anti inflammatory . For now take steam twice a day and do warm saline gargles .
