Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have clicking sound in your ear after flight . Well this some times occur due to pressure difference in flight . The condition is known as ETD (Eustachian tube dysfunction) .

When people with upper respiratory infection , post nasal drip or sinusitis travel in flight mucus from throat area enter the eustachian tube (tube that connect upper throat to middle ear and balance pressure of middle ear ) due to pressure difference .

This causes clogging of eustachian tube and leads to ETD .

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist (ear, nose, throat) for proper examination and rule out other causes like ear infection . Doctor may examine nasal passage , back of the throat ,ear drum to confirm the diagnosis .

Doctor may prescribe decongestants , mucolytic agent like ambroxol , antibiotic course for infection and may also implant pressure equalization tube .

For now give warm compresses to ear several times a day and keep you ear dry .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
