What Causes Clogging And Slight Bleeding From Ear?
Hi. I woke up this morning with a clogged ear. My ear had some tried material in it that picked away but then I noticed a number of blood spots on my pillow. All I recalled doing the other day was to use a Q-Tip swab lightly on my outer ear canals on both sides. No impacts - head trauma of any sort. I thought perhaps during the night I could have had an itch in my ear and inserted a finger with a sharp nail and accidentally scraped it. There is no pain and I have no symptoms of illness. Earlier today I gently inserted another Q-Tip swab and it had absorbed some bright red blood, so I seem to still be bleeding. Do I need to get this checked soon or can I wait to see how things evolve?
I can understand your concern and would help you in the best way i can. Looks like you has an injury to your ear canal which has led to bleeding. However the possiblity of an infection or a growth needs to be ruled out. For this you may require some tests like a ear examination, possibly a hearing evaluation, and some other tests if needed. For now it is advised of you not to wet your ears and avoid any manipulation by fingers. I suggest you to consult a doctor and get yourself worked up and start a treatment plan.
Hope it helps.
Regards Dr Manish Jha
