What Causes Clogging Of Food In Gaps At The Back Of Throat Post Tonsillectomy?

I had a tonsillectomy 18 days ago. I had a bleed on day 7 but it healed well after two nights in hospital. I now have practically no pain but I am getting food stuck in the gaps where my tonsils used to be. The gaps originally looked like ice cream scoops but are now the size of my little finger. Do the holes close up? I am 39, female.
