Hi,
Noted about your history of
Rheumatoid arthritis, gagging feeling that the throat is
choking, weakness.
This can be an emergency situation like
Angioneurotic edema which needs urgent attention, diagnosis and proper treatment.
This can be a part of the autoimmune process.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Rush to the nearest Hospital or ER.
Get examined, SpO2 checked.
Pharyngoscopy to see for any actual edema or so.
Proper investigations of blood.
Steroids may be needed if there is edema or so.
You can take your doses of oral steroid if already taking as you have Rheumatoid problems and must have been prescribed.
Stop any new medications if started recently.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General and ENT Surgeon
