What Causes Clots In The Mouth?

2 days ago I woke up the roof of my mouth was hurting. My allergies was really bad could it be from my sinuses. Now I think I irritated it when I ate. I used Listerine to rinse my mouth. Now on the side of my mouth I have what looks like a clot of blood.
