Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In the middle of the night, when my husband is fast asleep, his legs feel cold to touch and diaphoretic. If I wake him up, he says they feel normal, but they are so cold and clammy I can t imagine what could be causing this. He has untreated hypertension, but otherwise healthy.
Regarding your concern, I would explain that these symptoms could be related to low blood flow to the leg vessels.
Anyway, as he has no symptoms while sleeping or walking, you should also consider possible his constitutional characteristics, which may be a normal variation of the leg vessels.
For this reason, I would recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels in order to exclude peripheral arteriopathy.
If this test results normal, there is nothing to worry about!
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist
