What Causes Cold Fingers And Cramps In Feet With Diabetes?

My husband is a diabetic diagnosed in late 2010. He is 69. He has tingling and is always cold in his fingers from his finger tips back to the first finger joint. He gets painful cramps in his feet too. What can he do to check this out-his doctor doesn t seem to listen to his complaints about these maladies.

Hello madam.

Your husband's symptoms are most probably due to complications of diabetes.

Tingling is due to diabetic neuropathy which basically means damaged nerves due to high blood sugar level

Painful cramps in his feets are due to vasculopathy , diabetic patients are prone to arthreosclerosis which decreases the blood flow to tissues resulting in cramps

Your husband needs tight glycemic control , by healthy life style and medications if required.

Kindly do blood lipid profile and doppler ultra sound of lower legs which will show weather blood flow to his feet is adequate or not

Regards
Dr.Shah
