Hi I stopped smoking 94 days ago. I came down with general cold/flu symptoms (sore throat, blocked nose, runny nose, headaches, hot/cold sweats, aches, fatigue) about 10 days after stopping, which lasted for about a week. Almost immediately after this eased I started to get jaw ache, which lasted about a week, but then morphed into swollen glands (under my chin) and a sore throat (but only on the right side of my throat). After six weeks of this I went to my GP who was completely dismissive - Well, I suppose you re throat does look a bit icky and you re glands don t feel very swollen to me - people get sore throats for no reason all the time and glands often swell up and go down for no reason - come back and see me if you re still suffering in 6 months and we might start to worry about it then. In the last few weeks, my ears have started to hurt as well - they re sort of sore in the tubes that go from my ears to nose/throat. I drink plenty of water (3-4 pints) every day and take a multi-vitamin/mineral tablet daily. Is this all related to stopping smoking, how long is it likely to last, how can I relieve the symptoms/cure them and, finally, should I be worried?
