What Causes Cold Sensation In Feet And Palms While Taking Glaucoma?
My mom is 79. She fractured her shoulder 3 weeks ago, but maybe that is not a factor in this instance. She also takes glaucoma medication, just for your info. What worries me is that she constantly feels cold and sometimes her feet and palms are like ice. Even when they are not, she feels cold. She also falls asleep these days, when she is sitting in the car or on the sofa. She has been an active woman and in good health and this is not normal. She takes no other medication other than pills for high blood pressure and her glaucoma medication. What could be the problem?
Cold intolerance and excessive sleepiness may be due to conditions like hypothyroidism, Addison's disease, electrolyte disturbances, pan hypopituitarism, geriatric sleeping disorder, hypothermia, lymphomas and anemia.
Please do contact a physician for a detailed clinical examination and few investigations like complete blood picture, hemoglobin percentage, thyroid function tests, serum electrolytes, ESR and CRP, glucose levels. To confirm a specific diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
