What Causes Cold Sweats After Suffering A Head Injury?
My daughter aged 20 was in a head on car wreck on Wednesday night. Her car didn t have airbags and she hit her head on the steering wheel in 2 places on the left side (eyebrow and hairline). Paramedics released her with a good vitals report at the accident site. For 2 nights she didn t sleep well and had dizziness and nausea when lying down. She has had overall aches, especially in the neck and shoulder area. Last night she slept well and had no dizziness or nausea, but today she has cold sweats. Is this normal? Should she do anything special?
Aches in the body particularly in neck and shoulder area may be due to violent shaking of body during accident. Concussion may be a cause of cold sweating, as it may cause a temporary damage to the hypothalamus- temperature controlling center. Also some times the symptoms of concussion may appear late about 6-12 hours & in some cases even up to 24-48 hours late. Normally a 72 hour observation period is recommended after any head trauma.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
