What Causes Cold Sweats And Stomach Pain After Reducing Intake Of Tramadol And Lorazepam?

My mother is experiencing cold sweats and stomach pain. She is reducing her intake of Tramodal and Lorazpam per her doctor s orders. We were wondering if her symptoms could be related to withdrawal of those medications, or perhaps her ulcer is acting up again. She feels relief after eating but is generally not hungry. Thank you! Hello,

Unfortunately tapering off benzodiazepines and opioids can cause a long list of symptoms. So your mum should talk to her doctor to discuss with him an alternative withdrawal plan. To get off two “difficult” medications at the same time might be too much too fast. However, I cannot exclude an ulcer as the culprit in this case, too. This is also something your mother needs to discuss with her family doctor. Feeling relief after eating could be a sign that the ulcer is the main problem.

Until she will see her doctor she can take Gaviscon liquid and eat well cocked white rice with natural yoghurt and slices of fresh cucumbers with some salt. Alcohol-free (!!) beer is another strange but good home remedy from Asia. Should she notice acute bleeding (either when vomiting or as dark black stools) she needs to see an emergency doc (ER) immediately. Nevertheless, I am sure mother will get well again soon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
