What Causes Constant And Profuse Sweating When Diagnosed With Periphral Neuropathy?
Hello. I am 54 year old w/f and was diagnosed with periphral neuropathy, RDS and hypothyroidism 16 months ago. My body seems to be having a hard time regulating its temp starting 6 months ago. I am constantly profusely sweating. Do you know what could be causing this and how I can get it to stop?
As per the description is given by you, I am of the opinion that you are suffering from Autonomic type of peripheral neuropathy. Autonomic nerve damage affects the axons in small-fiber neuropathies.
Common symptoms include excess sweating, heat intolerance, inability to expand and contract the small blood vessels that regulate blood pressure, and gastrointestinal symptoms.
Although rare, some people develop problems eating or swallowing if the nerves that control the esophagus are affected. Most commonly associated with Diabetes also.Have you undergone tests for this?
Are you on medications such as Methylprednisolone etc? Please follow me up with the details of tests done and medicines you are taking.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
