What Causes Constant Bleeding Post Intake Of Microgynon?

I was two days late in restarting my microgynon 30 after normal break and period, but took two on one day and two the next, on next break my period didn t come so continued to restart the pill when due to and my period came 6 days late, it was very heavy like I was weeing blood for 12 hours and lots of clots and then became normal but after 5 days (normal time) I carried on with brown discharge and the odd blood clot. I ve now come to the next break and my period has not started like it would have originally and I gather that s because it s not been 28 days since my last bleed but do I carry on taking the pill like normal and maybe have a bleed after my break or should I do a home pregnancy test?

Hello,

Any time there is bleeding that is not usual for you, it is recommended to have a urinary pregnancy test and rule out pregnancy.
This is because pregnancy is the most common cause of menstrual changes (delay or irregular/unusual bleeding) in childbearing age women.

Also, the menstrual cycle starts with the first day of the periods so your last cycle is 28 days, even though the bleeding last time lasted 10 days (it is calculated from the start of the bleeding, not from the last day). So it is clear you are having a delay in your periods and the pregnancy test is needed.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
