Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have been experiencing breast tenderness for approximately a week. Both are very tender with minimal swelling. No other symptom. I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago. What could cause this, I have never had this issue other than the occasional tenderness. This has lasted longer than usual. Should I be worried ???
You didn't tell about your menstrual date. Actually before one week of the periods females feel the tenderness over both breast due to hormonal changes although the breast pain or tenderness subsides after the menstrual period. But the breast pain occurs due to many causes like breast lump, hormone fluctuation, emotional stress, uses of estrogen medicines, mastitis or breast inflammation, fibrocytic breast disease, Breast abscess or benign or malignant tumour, costo chondritis.
You did not tell about your age? But if the cause is your menstrual period time then you should not worry, the pain will subside itself. But if its not the cause then you should consider the gynecologist for further investigation like x-ray or ultrasound to rule out the cause of tenderness or pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ankur
