Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Constant Burping While Sleeping On Left Side?
Why do I burp at night when sleeping on my left side? It IMMEDIATELY stops when I roll to my back (but I snore then) and no problem when I sleep on my right side. Unfortunately I cannot sleep on the same side all night, I get sore hips if I don t shift once in awhile. But the burping is the most annoying.....
Gastroesophageal reflux disease involves reflux of acid from stomach to food pipe and patients will experience symptoms like burping, burning sensation or acid taste in mouth. Acid secretion should be reduced with proton pump inhibitors like rabeprazole. These drugs should be taken half an hour before food for 5 to 10 days.Continue to sleep on left since it is the appropriate for reflux problems. Avoid sleeping on back.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
