Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been on coumadin for 14 years. For the last three years, he has been constantly colder than usual. He exercises very little, is somewhat of a TV/Couch potato and does not like to walk for any distance. I want to encourage him to get more exercise because I think that it would increase his circulation and he would not be so cold all the time. What advice can you give to help me get him motivated?
Coumadin contains warfarin that belongs to the group of medications known as anticoagulant medications is used in the treatment of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, heart valve replacement, atrial fibrillation etc. But like other medications this medication has some side effects of its own. It may cause changes in body temperature, cold intolerance and paresthesias, including feeling cold and chills. If you notice such type of symptoms while using this medication, then you should consult your prescribing doctor immediately for medical help and your doctor may change this medication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician,
