What Causes Constant Cough, Fatigue And Jaw Ache?

My 56 year-old-husband recently suffered from the flu (fever, achiness, chest congestion, coughing, loss of appetite, runny nose, etc) for over a week. He has suffered from asthma all his life so it hits him harder and takes him much longer to recover. He started with the flu over 3 weeks ago and still has a constant cough, is very fatigued and now his jaw hurts. What do you think it could be? Thanks

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Is he a smoker? As you told, he is suffering from chronic asthma. It may also possible with chronic bronchitis or COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). He may need to take long-term medicines depending upon his health condition and diagnosis.

Avoid cool drinks and freeze water. Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Use antibiotics, bronchodilator or antihistamine.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
