What Causes Constant Cough?

I have been suffering from constant coughing. Once started, it continues for one hour approximately. After inhalation of Duolin and Budecort, I get relief. How many times in a day shall I inhale? Doctor has suggested Moxifloxacin and Cefixime tablets once daily for 10 days, and Montelukast, Fexofenadine, and Acebrophylline tablets once in a day for 20 days. I have already taken the medication for 5 days. The intensity of coughing has decreased, but it still pertains. Please suggest appropriate measures.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The treatment you are taking for cough seems adequate if it is bronchitis. You haven't mentioned if you are a smoker or a diabetic. Regular exercise and a healthy balanced diet will make your resistance better. But go in for a CT scan chest with contrast to rule out any other underlying disease like tuberculosis or a deep rooted fungal infection. Check sputum for AFB and culture and sensitivity for bacterial infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sanskriti Jawa
