What Causes Constant Coughing And Wheezing Despite Rocephin Shot And Levaquin?

Diagnosed with upper lobe pnemonia 5 days ago. Had rocephin shot and leviquin since. My coughing is constant and not improved. Feel very week and every breath is wheezy. Sweating all night and the phlegm is still dark green. Am I expecting improvement too soon?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pneumonia is an acute inflammation of lung tissue. Recovery depends on the type & dose of antibiotics. Recovery is seen within 5 too 0 days of treatment.

The addition of bronchodilator/anti-inflammatory drugs with needful steroids can give earlier relief. Please discuss this with treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
