What Causes Constant Fever And Chest Congestion In A Toddler?

Hi Doctor, my daughter is 3yr 1 month with 14.3 weight, he is suffering from costant fever and heavy chest congestion last 2 weeks. We consulted a pediatrician, given antibiotic like advent, levolin and crosin 4 ml 5 days. Fever went after 4 days and came back again after 1 week. Doctor got all blood test done, dengue, malaria, LFT, urine, chest x ray, widel test, mantoux, etc. All seems to be normal except neutrophils is 68 and monocytes are 11, out of range. My pediatrician suspect some issue in chest x ray and says may be because of nimonia. Rest all report she says all ok. Prescribed 4 ml x5 days azithral 200, omnacortil solution 4ml 3 times a day for 5 days and levolin. Kindly advice, anything to worried about? Many thanks for you kind advice. Br, Prem

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I am sorry to listen to your baby. All other tests being normal I suspect bronchitis with(?) pneumonia(repeat X-ray would clear it).

Culture e &sensitivity test of throat s ab/ sputum would reveal suitable antibiotic. The needful course of the antibiotic & other medications advised by expert chest physician would help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
