What Causes Constant Headaches With Dizziness In A Person With Thyroid Disorder ?

Hi Doctor Andrew Rynne. I have a concern with my health. I will make it simple: I have thyroid (level high). I always have a headache and sometimes i get a little dizzy. I also get poor visions. I m 18 years old. What do you think is causing all of these? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

1. Head CT
2. Complete Blood Count
3. Thyroid Function Tests (T3, T4, TSH).

I can understand the thyroid hormone level is high but I need to know how much.

I would also like to suggest you start this treatment:

Methimazole 40 mg orally per day. Also, please follow these guidelines:
Avoid foods such as caffeine, alcohol, and other food items such as eating raw cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage etc, soy, corn, and gluten-based products are likely to cause problems.

Take calcium rich foods. Cut Down on Sugar & Refined Foods. Also, soothe your eyes using a cool compress.

Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Keep your head elevated than the rest of your body. This would also alleviate the pressure on your eyes.

Post another question with the test results and a doctor here can easily follow you up.

If any treatment is needed to be changed or somethings have to add up then the doctor will do.

Do not worry. I have already given treatment, it will arrest your problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
