Mirena is levonorgestrel-releasing
intrauterine device used for birth control that is indicated for intrauterine
contraception for up to 5 years.
The most common side effects of Mirena are missed periods, bleeding and
spotting between periods, heavier bleeding during the first few weeks after device insertion, abdominal/
pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, back pain, headache/migraine, nervousness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, bloating, breast tenderness, weight gain, acne, mood changes and loss of interest in sex.
In case the irregular spotting and bleeding is bothering you and making you uncomfortable, then you need to consult Gynecologist for proper advise regarding the change in
contraceptive method.
