What Causes Constant Itching In The Urethra?

I have had a mild itching sensation in my urithra for about a month now. have seen a physician about it twice and have been prescribed a one dose pill to clear up year infections ( my girlfriend and I were sexualy active at the end of a yeast infection) but the itch has yet to go away. I am concerned it may be something more serious
