Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Constant Low Grade Headache And Fainting In An Elderly Man?
I have a friend, 77 year old male. He has a constant low grade headache and blacks out for no apparent reason. He has stopped driving, etc. as he does not want to harm anyone if he should black out . I believe it hasn t happened too much, but often enough that he has elected not to drive. I was told there is a condition where people have blacked out and they have been told to drink lots of water and salt. Do you have any idea what this could be? Thank you for any advice you can give. It would be best for him to be seen. There are different possible causes, maybe due to low blood pressure, may be related to arrhythmias (abnormal heart rates or rhythms), may be due to medication or sleep disorder or seizure activity.
It would be best to be assessed to find the exact cause for his symptoms.
It would require physical examination along with investigations such as imaging and blood tests.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
