What Causes Constant Mild Pain In Upper Back And Chest?

I have been having mild, short, dull pain in both sides of upper back, and upper and lower chest. The pain comes and goes and is not every day. I do not smoke, weight is 130 and am 5 6 . I play soccer, hike and walk on the treadmill with no discomfort. I have been noticing my bras are tighter and I have not gained weight. I have contacted my doctor via My Multicare to get an appointment

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Chest and shoulder pain can be caused by several conditions from muscular problems to issues related to the cardiovascular system.

It is good you are going to have a check with your doctor. He will need to listen to your heart and lungs and probably have an x-ray done to rule out any problems with the aorta, the main artery that goes out from the heart.

If all the examinations are normal a muscular chest and shoulder pain is likely.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I may assist you further.

Kind regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj.
