What Causes Constant Mucus In The Throat With A Difficulty In Swallowing?
I dont have a cold or any allergies but i have a constant mucus scab at the back/top of my throat that causes me issues fo swallow. When i can manage to unlodge it (takes a lot of effort) there is sometimes blood. It is always the size of a thumb nail. It always comes back. I have to unlodge it at least twice a day
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain excessive mucous at the back of throat can be due to a number of causes like Sinusitis, Post Nasal drip, upper respiratory tract infection, silent reflux or Laryngopharyngeal reflux acid reflux etc.. You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and investigations like Laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, MRI of sinuses depending upon the suspected cause can help in confirming the diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. As of now do warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and take mucolytics like Ambroxol.. Saline nasal irrigation can help..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
