What Causes Constant Nasal Congestion?

I constantly have a runny nose and am sniffing all the time. It started all of a sudden about 1 year ago. It happens everywhere I go, at work and at home. Yet I'm not sick, perfectly healthy otherwise. My physician says its a cold. Colds last for a few days but not in this case. Its like hay-fever all the time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic. I read carefully your query and I understand your concern.
You have right when you say that congestion nasal symptoms (runny nose and sniffing) caused from flu or cold last for few days, exactly 7 to 10 days.
You said that have continuing nasal symptoms that started about a year ago, the causes maybe are a allergic rhinitis that have seasonal or year around symptoms, other cause are nasal irritants : changes with the weather dry or cold weather, smoking, alcohol intake, air pollution ,chemicals or perfumes; another cause are medications like nasal sprays especially decongestant nasal spray you should avoid them and replace with nasal saline products ,other medication are some blood pressure medication, antidepressants etc; chronic sinusitis etc.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Kind regard,
Dr .Marsida Janko
