What Causes Constant Pain And Swelling In Thumb After Removing Splint?
I broke my thumb distal part near the knuckle just over six weeks ago. Its out of a splint finally but is still really painful, swollen and when I knock it still hurts. Shod I go get and x ray? Also my ligaments are so tight I ve been doing hand therapy for a week trying to get it moving but its really painful
Since you have immobilised your thumb in a splint for a long time, it is bound to be stiff and can cause pain.
It is advisable to show your Orthopaedic surgeon why so examine your thing and detect an unhealed fracture or stiffness of the thumb joint Aug physical examination and necessary Xray.
Avoid using the injured thumb and show to your Doctor as soon as possible.
Thanking you.

Dr. Aashish Raghu
