What Causes Constant Pain In Left Chest And Shoulder?

When I was around 8 I started noticing that I d get random pain in my left chest, it would last around a second or two and then disappear, so as a kid I ignored it. It never happened frequently, just randomly every now and then. Last night j was laying in bed and I got the same thing, except it didn t last a second or two, it s been on and off since I felt it last night and now it s 10 am and I still feel the pain. It s the same pain in my left chest, and my left shoulder has started to ache to. I m not sure as to how to stop the pain and id like to know if you have any ideas of what s causing the pain? Thankyou

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The chest pain can be related to several conditions. I suggest doing an electrocardiogram to exclude a cardiac issue. If the EKG is normal it is probably a muscular or nerve issue.

In this case, I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Acetaminophen three times a day.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
