What Causes Constant Pain In The Knee?

I have had pain in my knee for a few months now. When I stand up after sitting in a chair for more than a few minutes, my knee sort of gives out and is very painful to stand/walk on. After walking for a few moments, the joint starts moving better, but I still have the pain when extending my leg or putting pressure on it. What might it be?

Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to osteoarthritis of knee joint.
In osteoarthritis, breakdown of cartilage and underlying bone occur due to degenerative process. It cause joint pain, stiffness and decreased movement of joint.
I would suggest to consult the orthopedic surgeon and undergo clinical examination, routine blood test and Xray/MRI of the knee.
Doctor will give following medication under the observation of your treating doctor:
Mild exercise, prevent stress on joint,
Medication like diclofenac or naproxen.
Injection of steroid: give relief for short term.
