What Causes Constant Pain In The Left Toe?

My left big toe is constantly painful. The pain centers in the main joint at the base of the toe. Sometimes there is a severe shooting pain around the base or edges of the toe nail as if it is digging into the skin. that pain level is about an 8. does this sound like Gout? YYYY@YYYY

I will advise you to consult orthopedic surgeon for examination and investigate with local part x ray
