Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have a constant pain under the left side of my tongue, specifically under my tongue on the vein. I looked at it and poked around and saw that the vein had been cut. I usually keep up with good dental hygiene. I am wondering if I need to see a doctor for this or will it eventually heal on its own with salt water rinses to prevent infection?
presumably the vein isn't bleeding profusely. The veins under the tongue can look odd and not be cut, or abnormal. the most common cause of pain under the tongue is a blocked salivary gland. treatable with stimulating the gland and keeping hydrated. Lemon water or lemon lozenges are the usual method used.
