General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There are a number of physical causes for pain on taking a deep breath.

Since a number of years have elapsed since you were reviewed for your chest pain, it would be best for you to be seen by a doctor again.

In addition to physical examination, imaging of the chest by an x ray may be needed (depending on examination findings).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
