Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Constant Pressure In The Perineum While On Testosterone Replacement Therapy?
I m 43 years old and have been on testosterone replacement therapy for about a year. Over the last 2 weeks I have noticed a constant pressure between my testicles and anus a little left of center. It s not painful. There has been a twinge of pain if I cough really hard or jump down from something in the same area for many years, but the pressure has just become noticeable. I am not having any issues with urinating or erectile disfunction. The only symptom I m having is a little pressure. What could this be? Thank you for your response in advance.
In that location, I am thinking more towards the prostate, since it seems to be worsened with straining during cough or big movements. I would recommend getting an ultrasound of the prostate done, a simple urine test (just to be sure that there's no infection) and having a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood test taken as well to have a look at the size and function of the prostate gland.
Also, are there any bowel issues like constipation, bleeding or feeling like you are unable to complete your bowel movement? The large bowels may be the next area to look at if the prostate is all clear, and you might have to discuss with your local doctor on the possibility of getting a colonoscopy done.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr. Teh
