What Causes Constant Ringing And Metal Sound In The Ear?

I have a constant ringing in my left ear. Recently I was using an air nail gun and had it close to my left ear. Since then I have a metallic sound and when I put my finger in my ear it sounds like a racket ball bouncing off the wall when I wiggle my finger. I m familiar with tinitis (sp) but not sure if it will get better. It s been about two days now.
